Dutch start-up Fairphone, makers and developers of the modular Fairphone 2 smartphone, have this week unveiled a new range of 3D printed accessories following on from the launch of the first commercial-ready modular smartphone launch earlier this week.
The Fairphone 2 accessories have been designed by Alan Nguyen and take the form of the Fairphone 2Nightstand and Amplifier. That are both 3D printed on an Ultimaker 3D printer from colorFabb’s woodFill filament, making them among the first phone accessories to be printed from wood effect filament.
The Fairphone 2 is the first modular phone on the market. Designed for repairability, spare parts are available in our shop to battle anything life throws at it. The new Fairphone 2 accessories have been made available via 3D printing network 3D Hubs and are now available to order even if you don’t have a 3Dprinter readily available. Fairphone explains :
To help kick off the launch of the Fairphone 2, we’ve teamed up with Fairphone to introduce a new collection of 3D printable accessories for Fairphone owners. These accessories will add additional functionality and style to your Fairphone 2. Instead of being mass-produced like most other smartphone accessories, these accessories are 3D printed on demand, preventing both unnecessary transport and overproduction. Even better, the designs are printed using a unique material made from recycled wood fibers and bioplastic PLA.Designed by professional industrial designer Alan Nguyen and printed using woodFill 3D printing filament, the Fairphone 2 Nightstand is the ideal charging and resting spot for your device during twilight hours. The Amplifier is the ideal and portable solution for users who are looking for more amplified sound experiences.
