Michigan Micro Motion - the world's smallest computer

Michigan Micro Motion - the world's smallest computer

More than impressive novelty presented engineers from the University of Michigan. American developers have created a surprisingly tiny computer. It’s size – 1 cubic millimeter.

This is the miniature computing device on the planet. “Name” record holder gave simple – Michigan Micro Mote. Or simply M3.

The platform completely autonomous. The Energy it receives through the solar cells (works with any source of light – even artificial.

In standby mode, the invention requires 2 nA. The panels generate about 20 nV.

The authors of the project managed to put in all the necessary modules M3: battery, memory, CPU, timer, Wi-Fi, temperature and pressure sensors (plus many others).

There are still a voltage regulator and an appropriate controller.

Arranged Michigan Micro Mote’s pretty simple. Each component is on its own layer. Between themselves, they are “connected” protocol MBus. The design allows you to add additional blocks.

Needed to process the information received from the computer sensors. Then the “issues” effect with a built-in radio (at a distance of up to 2 m).

It is assumed that the M3 is an ideal basis for the Internet of Things. Dimensions suitable.
