Synthesis of complex small molecules in the laboratory is highly specialized and very confusing work in terms of the inhabitant, which is also very difficult and requires a tremendous amount of time. Even highly, trained chemists can spend a lot of years to determine how to make a particular molecular structure, and this is not to mention the discovery and circumscribing its functions. In an attempt to improve this situation, a team of chemists from the University of Illinois states that created a machine that is able to collect a wide range of complex molecules by pressing a single button.
A certain class of structures, complex small molecules which can easily be found in nature still research in a broad range of scientific areas. In medicine, for example, many recent drugs were obtained by manipulating small molecules such here. In the biological sciences, small molecules are often used to help show the intrinsic properties of the mechanisms of tissues and cells. Even inorganic electronic technologies, such as semiconductors, including solar cells and LEDs, require the creation and use of these miniature compositions.
A team of Illinois believes that this new molecular creation has the potential to significantly increase the speed at which the molecules can be “collected” and, in turn, as soon as possible to ensure that effective technologies for drug development and other scientific breakthroughs, that rely on complex structures of small molecules.
“Until now, the synthesis is our weak point,” said Burke teacher. “There are many areas where progress has so far slowed down since working with molecules at such level is very difficult. But we have taken steps forward. “
