IDC: Android OS is installed on 81% of smartphones shipped in the third quarter of 2013

In the third quarter of 2013, Android mobile platform has set a new record, according to the report, IDC. For example, the Android OS was installed on 81% of the shipped units in this period. Moreover, 39.9% of all Android-devices shipped by Samsung.


The market share of iOS for the year decreased from 14.4% to 12.9%. At the same time, a positive trend demonstrates the platform Windows Phone. In the third quarter, it took a 3.6% market share (2% in the same period of the previous year), the growth rate for the year was 156%. In this case, the majority of shipped devices accounts for the company Nokia – 93,2% of all smartphones based on Windows Phone.


The operating system BlackBerry is losing popularity. In the third quarter of 2013, only 1.7% of smartphones that contain pre-installed operating system, but in the same period of the previous year, it accounted for 4.5% of the market.
