Despite a wide range of protected cells intended for shooting in extreme conditions, mostly all of them belong to the class of compact cameras with small matrices. Today, the Japanese company Nikon has decided to correct this misunderstanding and announced an underwater camera Nikon 1 series, which received the name of vague Nikon 1 AW1.
Nikon 1 AW1 boasts of housing, protected against dust and water (to a depth as much as up to 15 meters) and shock (you can drop onto hard surface from a height of up to 2 meters). Like other modern camera Nikon 1 series, AW1 is equipped with a 14-megapixel format CX (13.2 × 8.8 mm) and takes photos in JPEG and RAW.
It supports all typical Nikon 1 high-speed shooting modes, including 15 f / s with continuous autofocus and 30 or 60 f / s with fixed focus and exposure. The camera can not only take pictures, but FullHD-video (60i or 30p). Also new is a built-in GPS-receiver, altimeter, depth gauge and electronic level.
Along with the camera had been presented two protected lens – Nikkor 1 AW 10mm f/2.8 (27mm EGF) and AW 1 Nikkor 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 (EGF 30-75 mm). These lenses are only compatible with Nikon 1 AW1 (camera but, on the contrary, can work with any lens lineup, only to sink her while longer possible, since the lenses do not have adequate protection from moisture).
The cost for the Nikon 1 AW1 whale with a protected zoom lens will be $ 800 in the U.S. and 900 euros in Europe, with two kit lenses protected – $ 1,000 and 1,150 euros respectively. For additional protection (as well as for better visibility under water) with the camera will be available silicone case is bright orange in color.
