The company Broadcom announced a new line of wireless chips, which are focused on the use of in-car infotainment systems.
The new line of chips has the support of wireless technology 11AC/5G WiFi and Bluetooth Smart Ready. Through their use of drivers and passengers will be able to synchronize data and transfer content between mobile devices and automotive infotainment systems and displays. In addition, the new chips allow to organize high-speed connections and outside of the car, providing access to the Internet via telecommunication network LTE or through an access point.
Notes that supports Hi-speed Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11ac is possible to transmit video at resolutions up to 1080p to multiple displays. At the same time, Bluetooth Smart Ready technology will allow automakers to implement communication between the vehicle and wearable electronic devices or baptismal sensors. For example, the sensors can transmit biometric Driver’s fatigue level, the concentration of alcohol in the blood sugar level.
In addition, the integration of new chips cars can communicate with other vehicles and infrastructure (V2X – vehicle to infrastructure). Thus be able to increase the level of safety as the individual driver, and all traffic flow. For example, when the information about the obstacle on the road, traffic or other hazards will be able to adjust the speed of the car or offer an alternative route.
The new chips Broadcom BCM89335 and BCM89071 are available as samples to interested parties.
